SILDENAFIL CITRATE

What is Sildenafil Citrate?

Sildenafil citrate is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a solubility of 3.5 mg/ml in water and a molecular weight of 666.7. Viagra is formulated as blue, film-coated rounded-diamond-shaped tablets equivalent to 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg of sildenafil for oral administration. In addition to the active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, titanium dioxide, lactose, triacetin, and FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake.

Sildenafil Citrate is also known to:

- Increase Sex Drive
- Boost Sexual Performance
- Fuller & Harder Erections
- Increase Stamina & Endurance
- Quicker Recharges

  How Sildenafil Citrate works?

When a man is sexually aroused, the arteries in the penis relax and widen, allowing more blood to flow into the penis. As the arteries in the penis expand, the veins that normally carry blood away from the penis become compressed, restricting the blood flow out of the penis. With more blood flowing in and less flowing out, the penis enlarges, resulting in an erection.

If the nerves or blood vessels associated with this process aren't working properly, a man may not be able to get an erection. Sildenafil Citrate increases blood flow to the penis, so that when a man is sexually aroused, he can get and keep an erection.

It was approved by the FDA on March 27, 1998, and marketed in tablet form by Pfizer as Viagra®

Why does Sildenafil Citrate Soft tabs work so fast?

When Sildenafil Citrate is in a pill form, it must go through the digestive tract to finally be absorbed into the blood stream, this takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes or more. Sildenafil Citrate compounded in the soft tab form is absorbed directly into the blood stream through the cell walls under the tongue, thereby eliminating the necessity to go through the digestive tract. This is done by a compounding process developed especially for this product.

  How was Sildenafil Citrate developed?

Sildenafil Citrate was originally developed by Pfizer® as a heart medication to improve blood flow by relaxing arteries. During these studies, it was found to be effective in increasing blood flow to the male genitals.

Do I need the same dosage as the pill form?

No. Because the Sildenafil Citrate does not have to go through the digestive tract you need less of the dosage required using the pill form.

  What is the proper dosage?

For some men, a half dose is adequate to receive the desired results. You should never take more than one Sildenafil Citrate soft tab at any one time and not more than once a day. If you are over 65 years old or have any medical condition such as a serious liver or kidney problem, or are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV, consult your physician for the proper dosage.

  Who shouldn't use Sildenafil Citrate?

Before you start any treatment of Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs, be sure to carefully go through the online questionnaire. If you have any questions please consult your health care provider. If you're a man who uses nitrate drugs, like nitroglycerine, never take Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs. The combination of Sildenafil Citrate and nitrates can make your blood pressure suddenly drop to unsafe or life-threatening level. You could get dizzy, faint, or even have a heart attack or stroke. Nitrates are found in many prescription medications that are used to treat angina (chest pain due to heart disease) such as: Nitroglycerin, (tablets that are used orally and designed to be disolved in the mouth, skin patches, sprays, and ointments), isosorbide mononitrate and isosorbide dinitrate (tablets that are used orally and designed to be disolved in the mouth) Nitrates are also found in recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). If you are not sure if any of your medications contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are, ask your health care provider or pharmacist. Do not share your prescription with anyone.

Is age a factor in the effectiveness of Sildenafil Citrate?

Age does not seem to be a factor in the effectiveness of Sildenafil Citrate. In fact many men experience erections that are as firm as they were when they were in their teens. The erections last longer and require less stimulation to stay erect because of the increased blood flow.

Will Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs cause an erection?

No. You must first be sexually aroused to get an erection. If you take Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs and are not sexually stimulated, nothing will happen. If however you are sexually stimulated within that 4 hour period, your erection will generally be firm and long lasting. When the sexual encounter is over, the erection goes away.

  Are there any side effects?

Like all medications, Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs can have some side effects. The most common side effects are headache, facial flushing, sensitivity to light, bluish or blurred vision. In rare cases erection has been known to last more than 4 hours. If this occurs seek medical help immediately. Sildenafil Citrate soft tabs provide no protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

What Sildenafil Citrate ® does not do?

SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® does not cure erectile dysfunction. It is a treatment for erectile dysfunction. SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® does not protect you or your partner from getting sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV-the virus that causes AIDS. SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® is not a hormone or an aphrodisiac.

Finding the right dose for you

SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® comes in different doses (25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg). If you do not get the results you expect, talk with your doctor. You and your doctor can determine the dose that works best for you. Do not take more SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® than your doctor prescribes. If you think you need a larger dose of SILDENAFIL CITRATE ®, check with your doctor. SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® should not be taken more than once a day. If you are older than 65 years, or have serious liver or kidney problems, your doctor may start you at the lowest dose (25 mg) of SILDENAFIL CITRATE ®. If you are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV, your doctor may recommend a 25 mg dose and may limit you to a maximum single dose of  25mg of SILDENAFIL CITRATE ® in a 48-hour period.
